lauki(kaddu) gosht

A mixture of mutton or beef with lauki

Its a very very tasty and differnt kind of non veg item,u could serve it with plain rice or plain roti or nan.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1/2 Kg Mutton or Beef (with bones and fat)
    • 1 medium size Lauki.
    • 1 large Onion
    • 1 tsp Garlic paste
    • 1 tsp Ginger paste
    • 1/2 tsp of Red chilli powder or as per taste
    • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
    • 1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
    • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
    • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper powder
    • 1/4 cup of yogurt
    • Salt to taste
    • 2 nos of Green Cardamom
    • 2 nos of Cloves
    • 1 inch of Cinnamon Stick
    • 1/2 cup of oil
    • 1 tsp Roasted Cumin seeds powder
    • 1/2 tsp Roasted garam masala powder (cardamom,clove,cinnamon,mace)

    Directions

    1. Cut the lauki in square shape(2 inches)
    2. Boil it in very little amount of water and 1/2 tsp of salt.Keep aside.
    3. Take oil in a pan add the whole garam masalas(cardamom,clove and cinnamon).Let them splatter.
    4. Then add onions and fry it till golden brown.
    5. Add all the spices starting from garlic till black pepper,add some water otherwise the spices will get burn.
    6. Now fry for only one minute then add meat,yogurt salt and 1/2 cup of water.
    7. Let it cook on low heat till the meat tenders or u could pressure cook it to save time.
    8. When the meat done just fry it till the oil seperates from the meat.
    9. Now add the boiled lauki and mix it well.
    10. Cook for five more minutes on medium heat.Or u could cook it till u get your desired consistency of the curry.
    11. Sprinkle the roasted cumin and garam masala powder.
    12. Serve hot with naan,roti or plane white rice.

    I really like this recipe. This is a good way to add vegetables to the meat and very yummy...Also I like the fact that you added yogurt in the meat. I will try that variation....
