Recipe by Pooja Srivastava of Edison, US

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 cup Green moong dal (whole or split)
    • Ginger - small piece
    • Garlic - 2 cloves
    • Green chillies - 4
    • Salt to taste
    • Rice flour or Sooji (1 tablespoon)
    • Oil to cook
    • Red chilli if you like spicy

    1. Soak dal overnight.
    2. Mix dal, ginger, garlic, green chilli, salt in a blender to form a paste.
    3. Remove in a container. Add a little water so it's easy to spread.
    4. Add rice flour or sooji to mixture
    5. Check salt and spice.
    6. Heat tava and add 2-3 drops of oil
    7. Spread a spoonful of dosa batter and sprinkle little oil.
    8. Cook both sides to make them crisp.
    9. Serve hot with chutney\ketchup\pickle.

Note: This is a very healthy recipe full of proteins. It does not require any fermentation of batter, hence easy to make.

Thanks kancha. Your idea is good and healthy. @ Rabz: Add water to make consistency so as you can pour the batter and spread on tawa.

How much water must I add to get the perfect dosa batter?

I even added Brocoli while grinding the moong dal. It came out very well.

To make it healthier, green moongs sprouts can also be used. Instead of putting rice flour or sooji, for every cup of dal one table spoon of raw rice can be soaked along with.
