Kanjeevaram Idli(6-7 people)

Hi, this is Meenal and here is a simple and easy recipe for the morning breakfast. Happy Cooking!!!

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1 cup Black gram (split)
  • ½ cup Coconut
  • 2 tbsps. Vegetable Oil
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • ½ tsp Bengal Gram (split)
  • bunch Green Chilies
  • ½ no. Ginger, inch
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Soak rice and urad dal in water for a few hours.
  2. Wash and grind into a coarse batter adding enough water.
  3. Keep to ferment overnight.
  4. Next morning heat oil in a pan add the rest of the ingredients, fry a bit, and then mix into the batter along with the salt.
  5. The batter must be thick.
  6. Steam in idli moulds or greased plate for 10-20 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with tomato chutney or sambhar.

i wonder if ur proportion of rice and urad daal is correct.usually the proportion is 1cup rice and 1/4 cup urad daal.let me know sson
