Channa khurma

this a simple way!!

instead of using many spices,i have made this as a usual gravy just the way we make it on a regular basis.....and is tasty with chapatis or phulkas

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 100 gms channa
    • 1 onion
    • 2 tomatoes
    • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
    • 1 tsp coriander seeds
    • 1 tbsp grated coconut
    • 5-6 whole red chillies
    • 1/2 tsp jeera
    • 1/2 tsp saunf
    • 3 cloves
    • 1/2 inch cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • salt to taste
    • curry leaves and coriander


    1. soak channa overnight(or at least for 6-7 hrs) and pressure cook with a pinch of salt till soft
    2. fry onions with coriander seeds,red chillies,jeera,saunf,cloves and cinnamon and coconut in oil and grind to paste.
    3. again heat oil and fry the ginger garlic paste and tomatoes till soft.add the ground masala and the turmeric and salt.
    4. cook well till oil separates.
    5. add the boiled channa with the water in it and cook again.add more water as per the requirement of your gravy.
    6. pressure cook again till another 5 whistles and serve when done with any rotis of your choice.
