All those asking about MSG, it is not really good for you. And as Deepak said, it is banned in the US. NY restaurants are BANNED from using MSG. You dont really HAVE to include MSG or Ajinomoto in your chinese cooking, you can certainly cook without out. Here is what is said about MSG and the health concerns related to it visit this website. http://www.foodsafety.gov/~lrd/msg.html

MSG is not recommended and it's not often used in the authentic chinese kitchen. It's unhealthy and has caused people migraines. For those who experience health issues with the usage of MSG you can for example substitute with a pinch of white sugar instead. Xi Meng.

MSG is chinies salt

I don't think it is outright banned in the USA. I got a big bottle of it at a "dollar store" and it was labeled "Flavor Enhancer." Some people lack the enzyme or some such thing to process it. Many people can eat a bit of MSG without harm (monosodium glutamate.) Go easy on it if you're not sure.

MSG is good to taste.Unfortunately, its harmful to health and banned in USA.

msg(otherwise known as monosodium glutamate) has other names as well, ajinmoto or even tasting salt. It can be found at your local asain market.(and usually for under a dollar) Just look for a small clear plastic bag with red writing on it, it will say Super Seasoning Aji-No-Moto or just ask for it with the names listed above and it comes in either a 5 or 10oz pouch. I hope this helps! :)

hey people, the word MSG over here means the chinese salt also called as AJINOMOTO!!!

I have not tried the recipe but can I suggest that you abandon the Monosodium glutamate (MSG) called taste powder by the Chinese and not a good thing to have in your food. It is a flavour enhancer but my sister is quite allergic to it and it can make you feel bloated. Good food doesn't need it.

MSG stands for "mono sodium glutamate". Other common name is Chinese Salt or a popular brand "Aji-no-moto"

MSG is Monsodium Glutamate which is a kind of seasoning used in chinese food. You can get it in local market by the name "Ajinomoto".
