Beetroot Raita

Yogurt based sauce with beetroot

Can be a great dish with rice or briyani

Ingredients vegetarian 10 servings


    • 2 Medium sized BeetRoots
    • 1 medium sized Red Onion
    • 5 green chilles
    • 1 small piece ginger
    • 1 Cup fresh yougurt
    • 2 Curry leaves
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp jeera
    • 1 Red Chilly
    • 3 tbsp oil salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Dice Beetroots, Onions, ginger and green chillies separtely into small thin pieces (squares)
    2. Heat a tava and put 2 tbsp of oil and put the onions, green chilly and ginger. When the onion become soft, add in the beetroot. Mix and add salt.
    3. Heat for 5 minutes under medium heat till the beetroot is half done. Turn off heat and leave to cool.
    4. Seperately heat up mustard seeds and jeera without oil. They must not pop.
    5. Mash them till they become powdery.
    6. Add them to the beetroot mix.
    7. When cool add yogurt.
    8. Heat up 1 tbsp of oil, add ½ tsp mustard seeds, curry leaves and sliced red chilly.
    9. Pour over the beetroot mix and SERVE!
