Hot and Sour Soup

If you are new to Thai cuisine, some of the ingredients might be strange. Find a Thai grocery store and you should be able to find everything

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings


    • 4 cup Chicken stock
    • 4 stalks Lemongrass (fresh)
    • 4 slices (thick) Galanga
    • 8 no. Kafir lime leaves(fresh)
    • 6 no. Thai chilies crushed (fresh)
    • 1 tbsp Smoked chili paste
    • ½ cup Whole canned straw Mushrooms
    • 2 tbsp Green onion (finely chopped)
    • 12 no. Shrimps (peeled, with tails left on, and deveined)
    • 1 tbsp Tamarind Powder/Paste
    • 1 tbsp Fish sauce
    • ¼ tsp Sugar
    • ½ tsp Lemon Juice
    • Cilantro leaves for garnish

    Directions

    1. Boil chicken stock over medium heat.
    2. Add lemon grass, galangal, and Kafir lime leave.Redues the heat to simmer.
    3. Add Mushrooms, chili paste, thai chili, retunt to a boil.
    4. Add shrimps, fish sauce, tamarind powder, and sugar.cook until the shrims are pink, opaque, and firm. Remove from the heat.
    5. Add lemon juice and garnish with cilantro leaves and green onion.
    6. Serve hot.
