mangalorean style chicken dry preparation

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 kg Chicken
    • 3-4 Onions
    • 1 Coconut (grated)
    • 1-2 pods of Garlic
    • Tamarind (marble size)


    • 10-12 Red chillies (roasted)
    • 1½ tsp Coriander seeds (roasted)
    • ¼ tsp methi seeds
    • ½ tsp Termeric
    • 1-2 tsp Pepper powder
    • 1 tsp Jeera


    1. Clean & cut chicken into pieces. marinate it with pepper, turmeric & salt
    2. Cook it without adding water on a slow flame
    3. Grind roasted coriander, methi, red chillies & tamerind to a smooth paste
    4. Put this paste to the cooked chicken
    5. Cook chicken in this mixture for some time till the chicken is tender
    6. Coarse grind the coconut & garlic & jeera without adding water and keep this aside
    7. Take oil in a kadhai & fry chopped onions till they turn light brown
    8. Then add cooked chicken with masala in it and fry for some time
    9. then add ground coconut paste to this and fry on a slow flame till oil separates
    10. Serve it as a starter
