Palak Chana

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 2 cups Kabuli chana
    • 1 bunch Spinach
    • 1 cup fenugreek greens (only leaves)
    • 2 onions
    • 1 tsp ginger paste
    • 1 tsp green chilli paste
    • 1 tsp chilli powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala
    • 2 tsp coriander powder
    • 1/2 cup tamarind extract (thick pulp)
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 4 tsp oil
    • coriander leaves,chopped
    • salt to taste.


    1. Soak chana overnight and steam cook in the morning.
    2. Pick, wash and chop spinach and fenugreek leaves. Mince onions
    3. Heat oil and fry onions till pink. Add the greens, ground paste, a cup of water and cook the vegetable.
    4. Cool and grind to a smooth paste.
    5. Mix in chana and all other ingredients, add a cup of hot water and simmer for 15 minutes or more till the gravy is thick.
    6. Serve with rotis or rice.
