A change from usual sambhar rasam.ideal for lunch box

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1cup rice
    • 1/2 cup grated coconut
    • salt to taste

    for tempering

    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp urad dal
    • 1 tsp chana dal
    • 8-10 cashew nuts (broken)
    • a few curry leaves
    • 2 tsp coconut oil
    • 2 red chillis


    1. Cook rice till its done. See that rice does not stick together. for this you can add a tsp of ghee when it is cooking
    2. Spread rice and cool in a wide plate.
    3. Heat oil in a kadhai.
    4. Add mustard seeds, urad dal,chana dal,cashews,curry leaves and chillis broken into pieces.
    5. Now add coconut and fry well.
    6. Add this mix to rice.and add salt and mix well.
    7. Serve with a raitha of your choice, papad and pickle.
