poha with a tangy taste

This recipee was handed down from my grand mother and is a super hit snack item

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 cip poha (thick variety)
    • 1 tsp tamarind paste
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1/2 tsp haldi powder
    • salt to taste

      For Tadka:

    • 1 tbsp groundnuts 
    • 1 tsp mustard
    • 1 tsp urad dal
    • 1 tsp chana dal
    • 2 tbsp oil
    • few curry leaves
    • 1 tbsp grated coconut for garnishing


    1. Clean poha and coarsely powder in a mixer.
    2. Add tamarind paste, haldi powder, sugar and salt to taste andmix well with little water, heat oil in a kadahi, add mustard seeds.
    3. When they splutter add urad dal, chana dal, peanuts and curry leaves and fry till dal and peanuts are golden brown.
    4. Add poha mix and fry well .
    5. Serve hot garnished with grated coconut.




    Hi USHA instead of sugar you can try adding jagggery to the same dish will taste great with it.
