Simple dal recipe for beginners

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 3/4 cup chana dal
    • 2 sticks of curry leaves
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • salt
    • 2 green chillies
    • 2 tsps oil
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 tomato.(peeled and chopped)
    • 1/2 tsp red or green chilly paste(optional)
    • 1/2 tsp garlic paste
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
    • coriander leaves for garnishing

    Directions

    1. Soak dal for half an hour.
    2. Boil it with little salt until just soft.
    3. Heat oil,add mustard seeds,when they crackle,add curry leaves.
    4. Add tomato ,turmeric,garlic paste and chilly paste,braise for 5 mins on low heat.
    5. Add boiled dal,saute on low heat for another 5 mins.
    6. Add 1 cup water,and lemon juice ,cook on low heat till gravy slightly thick.
    7. Check salt and garnish with corriander leaves.
    8. Serve hot with rotis and rice.
    9. OPTION: YOU CAN ADD BOILED PIECES OF BOILED POTATOES IN IT.

    as iam a biggner can i use massor dal or toordal instead of chana dal kindly pls reply

    dal is very delicious
