Prawns and Potato curry

An easy prawn recipe

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1/2 kg peeled and de-veined shrimps or prawns (small size)
    • 3 medium potatoes (cut into half and then further diced into small cubes)
    • 1 onion (diced)
    • 2 medium tomatoes (diced)
    • 3 green chillies slit lengthwise
    • 1 bay
    • 2 cardamoms
    • 4 cloves
    • 1 tsp ginger - garlic paste
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric (haldi)
    • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
    • Salt to taste
    • 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
    • 2 tbsps oil


    1. Heat oil in a wok or karahi.
    2. Add bay leaf, cardamom and cloves
    3. Add diced onions and saute till pink
    4. Add ginger garlic paste, saute two more minutes
    5. Add tomatoes and saute till they lose their shape
    6. Add the prawns and saute for about three minutes
    7. Add the chilli powder, turmeric, salt and green chillies and further saute the mixture for another two minutes.
    8. Finally add the potatoes, add two cups hot water and cook on simmer till the potatoes are soft but retain their shape.
    9. Garnish with coriander and serve hot with rice.
