Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 2 cups boiled mackerel(surmai)
    • 2 boiled potatoes(mashed)
    • 2tsp carom seeds(ajwain)
    • 1/2 tsp corriander powder(dhania)
    • 1/2 tsp  powder cumin powder(zeera)
    • 1 tsp salt or as per taste
    • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp crushed red chilli
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
    • 3 green chillies finely chopped
    • 1 cup corriander leaves finely chopped
    • 2-3 sprigs mint leaves finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup bread crumbs for coating
    • oil for frying


    1. Boil fish in 1/2 cup water in covered pan on low heat till water is absorbed.
    2. let the boiled fish come to room temperature and mix all given ingredients except oil.
    3. Make small balls and then gently flatten them to make a patty.
    4. Coat them with bread crumbs
    5. Heat oil in a pan and fry patties in shallow oil till light brown
    6. Serve hot with ketchup
    7. NOTE:can use any other fish if mackerel is not available
