This is a famous evening snack of North Karnataka. My mom always make it.
Ingredients
vegetarian 4 servings
10-15 Big Green Chillies (Bajji chillies)
1 cup Besan (Channa dal flour)
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Ajwain
1/4 tsp baking soda
5 tbsp Coriander seeds
5 tbsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
a pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
Salt to taste
Vegetable Oil for frying
Directions
Slit the Green Chillies & remove the seeds. Keep aside.
Make a coarse powder of Coriander & Cumin seeds. Add Asafoetida & little Salt to this powder. Mix well & keep aside.
Make a semi-thick batter from the Besan. Add Ajwain, baking soda, Turmeric & Salt to it. Mix well.
Fill the slit Chillies with the Coriander & Cumin powder. Dip completely in the batter & deep fry till crispy & golden brown. Serve hot with tomato sauce.
