a delicacy in the Andhra cuisines and tastes so good when eaten with hot rice and ghee.but u need very tender shoots of the leave which is seasonal.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 cup of tender tamarind leaves chopped
    • 100 gms tuvar dal
    • 4 green  chillies
    • 1 chopped onion
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 1/2 tsp jeera
    • 6-8 pods of garlic

    salt to taste and mustard, 2 red chillies and curry leaves and a pinch of hing for seasoning


    1. pressure cook the dal with the leaves,green chillies,onion,garlic,turmeric and jeera
    2. when cooked soft,add salt to taste and mash well with a wooden laddle
    3. and season with the given ingredients and pour into the dal and serve hot.
