Low Calorie Laddu

This laddu is unique because not even a single drop of any kind of fat is used.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 1 cup Semolina
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Coconut, fresh grated
  • Cardamom to taste, powder
  • Cashews for garnishing
  • Raisins for garnishing
  • bunch Saffron, for decoration


  1. Grate fresh coconut. While grating ensure that the black back of coconut is not grated.
  2. Add sugar to it and mix well. Keep it aside for 6-8 hrs. i.e. till the sugar dissolves and mixture is in semi-solid form.
  3. Roast Rawa (suji) till it becomes light. Ensure that the Rawa should not change its color.
  4. Put the roasted rawa while it is hot in the coconut-sugar mixture, add cardomom powder and dry fruits.
  5. Soak saffron in one tbsp of milk, crush saffron and add it to the mixture.
  6. Mix well all contents and keep aside for 12 hours. Roll laddus out of mixture and decorate it with dry fruits and silver foil etc.
