Methi rice

This spicy methi rice tastes great with cucumber raita - just the perfect recipe for a grey monsoon evening!!!

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

  • 4 bunches Fenugreek Leaves, cleaned and blanched
  • 1 cup Rice (basmati), boiled
  • 1 no. Onion, sliced
  • 6 nos. Cashews, chopped coarsely
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Garlic, paste
  • 1 tsp Ginger, paste
  • 2 nos. Green Chilies, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable Oil for frying


  1. Heat oil in a pan; add jeera, cashews, ginger-garlic paste, green chillies and fry for a few seconds.
  2. Add onions and fry for a 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the blanched methi leaves and fry for a few seconds.
  4. Mix in the rice and add salt and pepper.
  5. Just before serving garnish with grated cheese.

i really liked this receipe. very tasty. i didn't add too much of chillies as i have two little daughters who don't eat spicy food. very easy to prepare
