Mahrastrrian style dal

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup toor dal
    • 1/4 cup masoor dal
    • 2-3 tps ground nuts
    • 1/2 tps jaggery/sugar
    • 1/2 tps chilly powder
    • 1/4 dhania powder
    • 1/4 jeera powder
    • 1/4 tps turmeric
    • 1 tps oil
    • 2-3 curry leaves
    • 1/4 tps mustard seeds
    • 1/4 tps jeera seeds
    • pinch of  hing
    • 3-4 kokam
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Pressure cook toor and masoor dal and groundnuts when cool add chilly powder, dhania powder jeera powder and water (if required) and boil it,
    2. now add  kokam and jaggery, salt to taste   
    3. Then heat oil for tempering (bagar) add mustard seeds jeera seeds, curry leaves, hing and add bagar to dal mix it and  garnish with coriander leaves.

    Hi! salama u can also try with sugar but u can use ginger garlic paste in vagar.

    i wanna try this recipe but my mother is a diebetic patient and that why she cant have suger or gurh so can i make it without this?

    It is vey much like Gujaratidal.In gujratidal, masoordal is not used that is the only difference.
