Sweet thick sambar

It has a tangy-sweet taste and tastes best with rice and boiled dal.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    200 gms Okra - chopped into small pieces 1 tsp mustard seeds 2 tbsp of oil 2 green chillies 1 medium-sized tamarind ball 1 medium-sized jaggery piece 1 tsp rice flour ¼ tsp turmeric salt to taste


    1. Soak tamarind in water and extract the juice.
    2. Heat oil in a hard bottomed pan. Put mustard seeds and wait till it splutters. Add the okra and green chillies and fry them, till they brightens.
    3. Pour in the tamarind juice, add salt, jaggery and turmeric powder. Mix the rice flour in a little water and pour it into the pan to thicken.
    4. Boil it till the raw smell of tamarind goes away.
