Toor Dal

very easy...

this north indian dal will make you ask for more....!

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2½ cup toor dal
    • 2 tomatoes (made into paste)
    • 1 tsp chilli powder
    • ½ tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 clove garlic
    • 1 tsp zeera
    • 3 cups water
    • 5 tbsp oil
    • 1 tsp rye seeds
    • 5-6 curry leaves
    • ¼ onion (chopped)

    Directions

    1. In a pressure cooker, put the dal, tomato paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, zeera, garlic clove and water and pressure cook for 20-25 minutes.
    2. Now transfer the contents of the cooker with the help of a little water into a large vessel.
    3. Blend the mixture using a hand blender.
    4. In a small kadai put the oil, rye seeds, onion and curry leaves till the contents become golden brown.
    5. Add this fry item into the dal.
    6. Serve hot with rice or chapatis....!!
