Balti Chicken Daal

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 450 g chicken boneless 450 gm
    • 1 cup moong ki daal
    • 4 tbsp oil
    • 6 whole red chillies
    • 4 curry leaves
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • 2 tsp mango powder (aamchoor)
    • 2 chopped tomatoes
    • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp coriander powder
    • 1 tbsp chopped green coriander
    • salt to taste
    • water as req
    • 1/2 cup oil
    • 1/2 cup sliced onion


    1. Wash the daal and soak it for 15 minutes.
    2. Squeeze the water and boil for 10 minutes.
    3. Squeeze once again and put the daal in a bowl and keep aside.
    4. Heat a oil in a pan,add whole red chillies,curry leaves and mustard seeds and fry them for 2-3 minutes.
    5. Now add mango powder,tomatoes,red chilli powder,salt,dry coriander powder and chicken, fry them for 7-10 minutes or until tomatoes has tendered.
    6. Now add moong ki daal and cook for 2-5 minutes.
    7. Heat a oil in a another pan and add sliced onion.
    8. fry it until it turns into golden colour and add this tadhka in the daal.
    9. Sprinkle green coriander and serve with chapatis or naan.
