Cheakpea Patties

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 1/2 cup chickpeas
    • 1 finely chopped onion
    • 2 tsp ginger finely sliced
    • 1 clove crushed garlic
    • 1/3 cup chopped coriander leaves
    • 1 green chilli finely chopped
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1 tsp red chilli powder
    • oil for frying


    1. Soak chickpeas in boiling water in a bowl.Cover the bowl and set aside for 2 hours.
    2. Drain the chickpeas,reserving 1 cup of water.Make a smooth paste of the chickpeas by blending them in a mixture.Add reserved water if needed.
    3. Add onion,ginger,garlic,coriander leaves,chillies and cumin seeds.Blend till all the ingredients are well combined.
    4. Take tbsp of this mixture and shape like small patties.
    5. Heat oil in a heavy=base frying pan.Fry the patties till they turn golden from both sides.
    6. Serve hot with raita or tamarind sauce.
