Handi Chana Daal

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 250 gm chanay ki daal (soak in water for 2 hours)
    • 2 chopped onion
    • 2 chopped tomatoes
    • 6 cloves of fine chopped garlic
    • 1 tbsp ginger paste
    • 3 chopped green chillies
    • 1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp curry powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala powder
    • 1 tsp cumin powder
    • 2 tsp coriander powder
    • 4 bay leaves
    • 1 tbsp fried fenugreek leaves (kasoori metthi)
    • 1 tbsp butter
    • salt to taste
    • oil as req


    1. Heat oil in a pan and add onions and saute them till it turns pink colour.
    2. Now add bay leaves,green chillies,garlic flakes and cook it for 1 minute.
    3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook it until tomatoes are tender and oil separates.
    4. Now add coriander powder,cumin powder,red chilli powder and ginger paste and stir it for 2 minutes.
    5. Add chana daal salt and 3 cups of water and let is tender and add crushed kasoori metthi and garam masala powder and butter stir it very well.
    6. Cover it with a lid and cook for 5 minutes.
    7. Garnish it with fried onion and boil eggs.(optional).




    Thx swati and i want to mention that by mistake i wrote fried fenugreek leaves, it is dried fenugreek leaves.
