Matar ke parathe

Flatbread with oodles of spicy green peas stuffed inside

Time consuming but worth all the effort.............. great breakfast or if u like parathas for dinner.. pretty yummm

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 cup Green Peas (fresh)
    • 1-2 green chillies or to taste
    • 1/2 inch ginger (optional)
    • salt to taste
    • 1 tsp garam masala powder
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1 cup whole wheat flour
    • hing a pinch
    • oil/butter/ghee for shallow frying

    Directions

    1. coarsely grind the green peas.
    2. warm 2 tea spoons of oil in a karahi and put cumin seeds and hing, once cumin is roasted add grated ginger and saute. 
    3. follow it up by ground peas and mix well, to this add very finely chopped green chillies.
    4. let the mixture cook for 15-20 mins in open pan add salt and keep on stirring occasionally.
    5. once done add garam masala and turn the flame off. let it cool to room temp.
    6. in the mean time make a normal dough out of wheat flour.
    7. make small balls of the fdough and flatten them, fill up 2-3 spoons of mixture and close from all sides.
    8. roll it using a rolling pin and shallow fry on a griddle/tawa untill nice golden brown on both side. do it on medium flame for best taste.
    9. serve hot with curd/raita or only ketchup.
