cabbage paratha-an easy variation

paratha lovers should enjoy this variation of paratha... as such variety is the spice of life.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 2 cups grated cabbage
    • 1 grated onion (large)
    • 1 tea spoon cumin seeds (jeera)
    • 1 tea spoon or to taste red chilli powder
    • very finely chopped green chilli to taste
    • 1 tea spoon chaat masala
    • salt to taste
    • 2 cups whole wheat flour
    • oil/ghee/butter for shallow frying


    1. mix all the above ingredients exccept oil and knead into a dough. DO NOT add water as the veggies will leave their own water when mixed with salt.  One can vary the quantity of flour as per requirement so that a smooth dough is prepared of which parathas can be rolled out.
    2. divide the dough into large lemon sized balls and roll it into parathas using a rolling pin.
    3. on a warm griddle shallow fry the parathas using oil/butter/ ghee till golden brown on medium flame.
    4. enjoy with dahi/raita or ketchup.
