Shrimp Samosas

A wonderful crisp teatime snack/appetizer for seafood lovers.

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings


    For dough:
    • 3 cup flour
    • 3/4 cup water
    • 1 egg
    • 3 tbsp ghee
    • dash of salt
    Filling:
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • 1 small onion finely chopped
    • 2 tbsp chopped coriander  
    • 2 green chili finely chopped 
    • 1/4 tbsp red chili powder
    • salt to adjust your taste
    • 1 1/2  cup chopped shrimps
    • 1/4 cup shredded paneer
    • 1 tbsp lime juice
    • 1 tbsp very finely chopped lime zest (opt = 4 fragrance).
    • Oil for frying.

    Directions

    1. In a bowl combine flour, salt,egg and ghee mix to a crumbly texture then add water and knead.
    2. Form into a pliable dough and set aside for 1/2 an hour.
    3. In a no stick pan heat the oil, fry the Onions, add chili powder, salt and chopped shrimps and fry until shrimps changes colour and turns a bit golden (don't over cook if they r sea shrimps or it will become rubbery).
    4. Add green chilies, coriander and toss.
    5. Remove from heat allow it to cool a little then add paneer, lime zest and lime juice , set aside. 
    6. Divide the dough into ping pong size balls, roll out into semi thin roties.
    7. Cut into 2 halves and rap/fold it up into triangles(cone shapes) fill each half cone wit 1 1/2 tsp filling.
    8. Seal the top by applying some water and start keeping them on a floured tray then cover with a wet cloth.
    9. Do this until done wit all the dough and filling.
    10. Heat oil into frying temp.
    11. Drop in the samosas 4-5 at a time and fry till golden.
    12. Remove on an absorbent kitchen towel and serve with your choice of chutney.
