Kalo jaam

This is a famous Bangladeshi sweet black on the out side & red in the in side.

Ingredients non vegetarian 8 servings


    For Jaams:
    • 2 cup nido milk (for best results).
    • 2 tbsp maida
    • 1 /2 tsp baking powder
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tbsp ghee(for best results)
    • 5 drops of red food colour
    For syrup
    • 2 cup sugar
    • 1 cup water
    • few elaichis (cardamoms) 
    • 1 tbsp rose water
    • oil for deep frying
    • 1/2 cup crumbled mawa

    Directions

    1. In a pot combine sugar and water with Elaichi and make to a syrup. leave the syrup over very low flame.
    2. Sieve maida, milk powder & baking powder.Now mix it well add eggs and butter to the the above mixture.
    3. Add food colour and mix to a soft dough.
    4. Heat oil over low- medium heat like for gulab jamuns
    5. Apply some oil on both palms take some jaam mix and shape up to an oblong shapes.
    6. Drop in the jaams in the oil and fry tossing and turning just like gulab jamuns but a bit more darker (not burnt).
    7. Remove from oil and drop in syrup. 
    8. Add rose water to the syrup and leave the jaams in syrup for 3 min and you will see the them bloating up.
    9. Remove from heat coat in crumbled mawa and serve warm or cold.

    Yes u can coat them wit dry coconut if u like but mawa gives the best taste. Hope tat helped.
