Arabi

This shawerma is quite famous in the Gulf and the difference is; it is wrapped in thin chapati like bread called Fatira( Marku) and some find it tasties then the regular Shawermas.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings


    • 4 Fatiras (Marku)
    For chicken marination:
    • 4 pieces of boneless chicken(thigh and leg would be better) shredded
    • 2 tbsp yoghurt
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 tsp spice powder( mixture of cardamom, cinnamon, little cloves,black pepper)
    • salt to adjust your taste I put 1 tsp.
    • 2- 3 cloves garlic paste.
    • 1/4 tsp paprika opt
    • 2 tbsp oil
    To accompany: 
    • 1 cup thick French fries
    • 4 tbsp mayo or garlic sauce (check Sneha's recipes)
    • 2 tsp Tahina
    • 2 tsp thick Arabian chili chutney (red chilli, salt, olive oil, crushed garlic)
    • 8 strips pickled cucumber
    • 4 leaves Lettuce (opt)

    Directions

    1. Marinade the chicken over night in all it's ingredients.
    2. In the morning cook the chicken over a grill or pan over medium heat making sure not to over cook.
    3. Remove from heat and spread out each Fatira and over it apply 1 tbsp Garlic sauce, lettuce, pickled cucumber,chicken, 1/2 tsp chilli chutney and 1/2 tsp Tahina and roll folding the sides first then like a Swiss roll ( like spring rolls).
    4. Cut the roll into 2"-3 " thick circles, place on a platter and decorate with pickled veggies and some garlic sauce on the side.

    Hi rabz!,Here they don't include the Arabi red chutney but use chopped onions with ur other mentioned ingredients in(side) thin chapati rolls.

    Thanks Christy u can still post urs with may be "Arabi 2" so many people have same recipes with a lil variations and it's good and nothing wrong in it. But I never knew it is famous in Chennai.Thanks for ur feed back.
