Sweet Potato Yoghurt Masala

Sweet and Spicy very tasty side dish

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 2 medium sized sweet potatoes boiled and crushed.
    • 1 small cup for grated coconut
    • 1small cup of roasted gram
    • Bunch of coriander leaves
    • 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
    • 2/3 green chillies
    • Few curry leaves
    • Pinch of asafoetida
    • 1 tsp oil for seasoning
    • 3 cups of fresh thick yogurt.
    • 1 cup of water.
    • Salt to taste.


    1. Mash the sweet potatoes and keep it aside to cool.
    2. Grind the grated coconut, roasted gram, coriander leaves, mustard seeds and green chillies all together to a fine paste.
    3. Mix the paste, yoghurt, mashed sweet potato, salt and water at the required consistency.
    4. In a pan, add a tsp of oil, mustard, asafoetida and curry leaves for the seasoning.
    5. Add the seasoning to the sweet potato yoghurt masala and serve it with rice.
