The new Tofu 65

This is my version of 65 recipe u are free to add or exempt wat u like but A pure vegan dish they will keep licking their fingers off.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 1 pack firm tofu or approx 2 c cubes tofu
    For coating:
    • 4 tbsp corn flour 
    • 3 tbsp flour
    • 1 tsp chili powder
    • 2 tbsp ginger/garlic paste
    • 1 tsp salt ( adjust to ur taste)
    • Approx 4 tbsp 
    • oil for deep frying
    For the sauce:
    • 5-6 whole dry red chili
    • 1 tbsp ginger cut into thin slices
    • few curry leaves
    • 3 tbsp chili sauce(chili and garlic)*
    • 1 tbsp sugar or honey*(opt)
    • 2-3 drops of red food colour (opt)
    • 1 tbsp soy sauce*
    • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder*
    • 1 tsbp garam masla powder*
    • 1 1/2 c curd*
    • 3-4 tbsp oil
    • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro

    Directions

    1. Marinade the tofu in it's coating ingrediants and set aside.
    2. After 20 min, heat oil and deep frying the tofu till nice and golden and starin off on a kitchen towel. 
    3. combine the stared item and make a curd mix( set aside).
    4. In a Karhai heat 3-4 tbsp oil , fry the red chili, curry leaves and ginger till light golden in colour.
    5. Add in the curd mix and fry till you get a nice and shiny gravy with little oil floating at the top.
    6. Add in the fried Tofu and toss 3-4 times till all gets coated well.
    7. Sprinkle the cilantro , bring out on a serving platter and serve with boiled rice.  

    *The food colour is opt if u r too fussed about it, the red chili, ginger and honey will only add extra fragrance to the dish.

    Hi Dimps I did try it with tofu but that becomes more like a tofu curry, for tofu /chicken or veg 65 the main taste comes frying things in batter then coating it with an Asian sauce/gravy 2 make it diff then wat we eat in Chinese. If I find a healthier version I will let u no 4 sure. Thanks khuserv 4 trying it out. cheers.

    I made it two days back with less chilli. It was not the typical 65 version but the new change was good.Thank you. Dimps I don't think you can make it with out batter, it won't be the same.

    I love chicken 65 but I am always hesitant eating it as it is fried then cooked and so much oil makes me step back , can you give any other suggestions on how to make this recipe healthier? Since you cook well.
