these are yummy tasting easy to make parathas. children will love to have these as their tiffin...
Ingredients
vegetarian 4 servings
2 cups Wheat flour (atta)
2 cups Urad dal
½ tsp Jeera powder
½ tsp Chilli powder
¼ tsp Hing powder (asafoetida)
2 Green chillies, paste
½" Ginger, paste
Vegetable oil - as required
Ghee - optional
salt - to taste
Directions
soak the urad dal overnight in water. the next day, drain out the water and make a coarse paste in the grinder.
heat white oil in a kadhai. add hing, then ginger and green chilli paste and fry.
then add jeera powder, chilli powder and salt to it and keep frying.
then add the dal paste and stir fry well.
when fried, remove from fire and let it cool.
then mix this with the atta well and make a dough. little amount of water may added only if required. stash the dough well. if some white oil is added while making the dough, the parathas come out soft.
now make out small balls of about 1 inch diameter, from this dough, and roll them into more or less thick chapatis.
fry them like parathas in a frying pan, with white oil or ghee.
