Jeera Rice

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 3 nos. Bay leaves
  • 4 tbsps. Clarified Butter
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Salt to taste

For garnishing : Fried cashews and Rasins

Directions

  1. Clean, soak the rice in water for an hour and then drain the water.
  2. Heat ghee in a vessel, add the cumin seeds, bay leaves,and let it splutter.
  3. Next, add soaked rice and fry a little longer in medium high heat about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add 4 cups of water(hot water is preferable), salt, sugar and boil the rice on high heat for 3-4 minutes and then cook over a low flame till rice gets soft and water is absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot.
  6. Garnish with fried Cashews and Raisins.
