Mangalorean Chicken Curry

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 kg chicken
    • 1 -dry coconut grated& roasted
    • 1/2 kg tomatoes
    • 5 Onions[chopped]
    • 10 long red chillies[roasted]
    • 1/2-cup curd
    • 3 tbsp coriander seeds
    • 4 Cinnamon sticks
    • 6 cloves
    • 2 tsp poppy seeds
    • 2 tsp turmeric powder
      [all the above spices are rosted using little ghee]
    • 2 small pods of garlic
    • 4" peice of ginger     
                        

    Directions

    1.  Cut & clean chicken into medium pieces
    2. Marinate it in curds & salt for 30 mins
    3. Take 2 tbsp ghee in a kadhai &  fry onions till they are light brown in colour
    4. Grind roasted spices with roasted chillies & ginger, garlic to a smooth paste
    5. Add this paste in to fried onions & add chopped tomatoes and salt, cook under covered
    6. Once it is cooked make a paste of roasted coconut and add this to the curry and bring it to a boil     
    7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or roti

     NOTE:Insted of using whole spices you can use ready made powder ie coriander powder, chilly powder,& garam masala powder
