Chickpea Curry

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 1 cup chickpeas ( kabuli channa ) soaked overnite
    • 1 big onion
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp coriander powder
    • salt
    • 2 medium tomatoes
    • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
    • 4 -5 green chillies
    • 1/2 cup oil

    Directions

    1. Soak the chickpeas overnite .
    2. Take the water out and add the baking soda init for 2 -3 hours .
    3. Heat the oil and golden brown the chopped onions and then add all the dry masalas and ginger garlic paste .
    4. Add the chopped tomatoes and then the chickpeas along with the baking soda .
    5. Cook by gradually adding water little by little .
    6. DO NOT close the lid while cooking  .
    7. When the chickpeas are tender and the masala thickens and the oil starts separating , it is done .
    8. Sprinkle some garam masala before serving .
