Pizza Dough

Simple method of making Pizza dough at home.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 4 cups White Flour (Maida)
    • 1 1/2 cups Warm water.
    • 1 1/2 tsp Dry Yeast
    • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil (for greasing)
    • 1 tsp Sugar
    • Salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Add Dry yeast, salt & sugar to warm water & mix well.
    2. In a large bowl, add the flour & make a well in the centre.
    3. Add the water mixture in the centre & knead the dough well until it does not stick to the hand.
    4. Lightly oil a bowl & place the dough in it. Cover it with a plastic & keep aside in a warm place for 1 hr. The dough should double in its size.
    5. Take a sheet pan & slightly oil it. Cut the dough into Quarters & place them on it. Cover the pan with a plastic & refridgerator for 2 hrs.
    6.  Pizza dough is ready to use.

    NOTE: Extra warm water can be added while kneading the dough. The dough should be kneaded to the consistency of Chapati dough.

    What if we use self raising flour. do we still have to add yeast to the flour?if yes how much?

    u can put this dough on room temperature,no need to pit it in refrigerator.

    It is called as resting the dough which makes it more pliable to use. Keeping more than 2 hrs makes the dough hard to stretch out. I have never kept for more than 2 hrs...u can try at ur risk.

    Why do we need to put the dough in to the refrigerator? What if I keep the dough in the refrigerator for more than 2 hours? Please reply for the comment.
