Oats idli

good steamed breakfast out of oats. good for cholesterol patients

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings

    • 1 cup oats
    • 1/2 cup low fat curd or any curd
    • salt to taste
    • 1 tsp split chana dal
    • 1 tbsp split  chana dal
    • 1 tsp urud dal
    • 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
    • ½ tsp mustard.


    1. First  coarsely powder the oat (not too fine) then add salt.
    2. Add water and make it into a dough in such a consistency like idli batter.
    3. Add chopped coriander leaves
    4. if you wish, heat  1 tsp oil and add the dals and mustard  when it splitters and it to the mix
    5. Now put  it into the idli molds and steam as we do for idli
    if u don't have idly  vessel, just keep a broad sauce pan or vessel put water to 1/2 inch height allow the water and use it as idly vessel.In small cups, pour the batter to 1/3 of the cup. Keep the cups inside the boiling water in the vessel and cover it tightly with a lid stem for 7 to 10 mints in medium flame

    first i thank lakshmisrinivasand amisha bhatia forgoing through my recipe and commanting about it. the should be added with oats along with water to make the batter ,i mentioned this when i send this recipe and about adding vegetables to ones own wish but the khanakhazana team changed it and gave u in simple form.

    what sh'd we do with the curds

    idea is good, but more additions can be made,like all mix vegetables like carrot.peas,cauliflower etc,along with some rawa(suji) to give it a consistency.It will enchance the taste.And if fried with little tomato sauce along with coconut and chilies it will be atastier option.
