Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 250 g Gram Flour(Sieved)
    • 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
    • 1 tsp Mint(finely chopped)
    • 1/ tsp Gram Masala Powder
    • Salt to taste
    • 3-6 cups Water
    • 7 tbsp Oil 
    • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
    • 2 Green Chillies(chopped)
    • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
    • 3 tsp Coriander Powder
    • 3 tsp Turmeric Powder
    • 1 cup Yoghurt(beaten)
    • 1 tbsp Raisins
    • 1 tsp Mango Powder
    • 1 cup Coriander Leaves

    Directions

    1. Sieve the gram flour & mix the red chilli powder, finely chopped mint, garam masala powder, salt, and three tbsp hot oil to form a hard dough.
    2. Roll and make into thick long strips.
    3. Boil these strips in water for about 10-12 minutes till they become hard & white.
    4. Cut into slices.These are called gattas.
    5. Heat 4 tbsp oil in a pan & fry cumin seeds, green chillies, asafoetida, and coriander & turmeric powders, on low heat.
    6. Add yoghurt, salt, and water for the gravy.Stir well.
    7. Add the gattas, the raisins, and mango powder.
    8. Cook for about 10 minutes.
    9. Garnish with coriander leaves & serve with roti or batti

    hi! karanbir this recipe is authentic ,but you can add curd ,so also dissolve the gramflour[besan] in curd add water , so this known as rajasthani gatta curry!!!

    Hi Mariya, thanks for the recipe, I did try it but as soon as I added the curd to the dish in step 6, it curdled up into small white pieces & the whole gravy turned very watery instead of being thick. Any reasons what could have caused that? Was it because we added green chillies in step 5?

    hi mariya your recipe is yummy if u add some poppy seeds n onion chopped green chilly to the gram flour n then boil after boiling cut into slices n fry the gattas just try the vegetable that way i hope u will like it
