Egg Moglai Gravy

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 6 Eggs
    • 1 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp dhania powder
    • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
    • 1 onion - medium sized (sliced)
    • 1 bunch chopped coriander leaves
    • 1 tbsp yoghurt(curd)
    • 1 tsp kasoori methi
    • 1/2 tsp garam masala
    • salt - to taste
    • 2 cups water
    • 2 tbsp cooking oil(or butter)

    grind into a smooth paste: (onion paste)

    • 1 onion (small),
    • 1 inch sized ginger
    • 4 cloves of garlic
    • 1 tbsp yoghurt
    • 1 tsp garam masala

    grind into a smooth paste : (tomato paste)

    • 2 tomatoes (small)
    • 1 tbsp cashewnuts
    • 2 tsp poppy seeds


    1. Hard boil the eggs, shell them and cut them into halves. and keep them aside
    2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion slices till golden brown, then add ground onion masala and fry till oil starts to leave the mixture.i.e upto 7 mins.
    3. add the red chilli powder, turmeric powder, dhania powder, and cumin powder and saute for 2 mins.
    4. add the eggs and mix it well till it is covered well in the masala.
    5. now add the tomato paste with 2 cups of water, then add curd, salt to taste and the chopped coriander leaves.
    6. cook for about 5 minutes and then add garam masala and kasoor methi and cook till done
    7. serve hot with rice or roti or naan.

    Hi Jaya and Kavitha, the tomatoes should be ground as a paste with cashews and poppy seeds. It should be added when you add the boiled eggs or even before or 2 mins after adding the boiled eggs.Then cook for 5 to 7 mins. After the masala is done , you add the curd,garam masala and kasoor methi etc and cook for 2 to 3 mins, till done.


    hi christy these ingredients are o.k. but the method is not given properly please tell us when r tomatoes etc. to be used boiled eggs r always put at the end so when the gravy is done

    Hi, please tell me when to add cashew nuts and if we add tomatoes, curd, garam masala and kasoori methi after the eggs are added then how will the tomatoes and other things will get cooked they will remain raw and tomatoes will smell. Also the egg yolk will become softer and brake - Kavita Chugani.
