Dhuli Moong Salad

This is prepared on Ramnavmi along with neermoor,panagam & kheer.Tamil name for badam is Banganapalli.yellow moong is pasi parupu.very healthy.coconut is optional.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup Yellow Split Moong (Dhuli)
    • 1 Carrot grated
    • 1 Raw Mango(badami) grated
    • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
    • 1 tsp  finely chopped green chilli
    • 1 tsp finely chopped coriander leaves
    • 1 tsp Mustard
    • 1/2 tsp Hing
    • Salt,to taste
    • 1/2 tsp Oil

    Directions

    1. Wash the moong & Soak Moong dal in water for 1 hour.Strain it after an hour's time.
    2. Heat oil in a kadai.After mustard splutters, add ginger, chilli, hing, moong, Saute for 2 minutes.
    3. Then add grated carrot,mango & salt.
    4. Mix well and again saute for just 2 minutes.
    5. Garnish with coriander leaves.

    Note: Strained water can be used to make kootu or in sambar.moong can be eaten raw but kids doesn't like to eat raw.so if sauted for 2 min,it will not have the raw taste.
