Pumpkin palya

Simple pumpkin subji with Coconut

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 cup Red Pumpkin
    • 2 Green Chillies/Red Chillies
    • 1/2 cup grated Coconut
    • 3 tsp Vegetable Oil
    • 2 tsp Mustard seeds
    • a pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
    • 2 tsp Channa dal
    • 2 tsp Urad dal
    • 4-5 Curry leaves
    • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
    • Salt to taste


    1. Cut Pumpkin into small pieces.
    2. Heat Oil in a kadai. Add Mustard seeds, Hing, Channa dal, Urad dal, Curry leaves & Green or Red chillies. Fry for 30 secs.
    3. Add Pumpkin pieces, Turmeric powder & Salt. Mix well. Sprinkle little water, cover a lid & cook till the pieces are soft.
    4. Once the pieces are soft, add grated Coconut & mix well for 30 secs. Serve hot with chapati or steamed Rice.
