Mutton Chops(Andhra Style)

A variation of mutton chops

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings


    • 500 gms mutton pieces
    • 1/2 cup grated coconut
    • 1 inch piece ginger
    • 10 garlic flakes
    • 1 tsp pepper corns
    • 2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 150 gms onions(finely chopped)
    • 100 gms tomatoes(finely chopped)
    • 1 green cardamom
    • 1 clove
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 50 ml refined oil
    • 6 green chillies
    • 1/4 cup cashews(broken into halves)
    • 2 tsp salt
    • 3 cups water
    • a sprig curry leaves

    Directions

    1. Grind together coconut ,ginger,garlic,pepper corns,cardamom,cinnamon stick,clove and cumin seeds in to a fine paste adding 1/2 cup water from time to time.
    2. Put mutton pieces ,tomatoes,turmeric powder and water-1 1/2 cup.close the pan and cook for 10 mins
    3. Heat oil in another pan ,add curry leaves,green chillies,cashew nuts and onions and saute for 2 mins till onions are golden brown.
    4. Add the ground paste and stir for 3 mins.
    5. Add 1 cup - water and salt.cook till oil begins to separate for about 3 mins.
    6. Add cooked mutton and saute for 5 more mins till water dries up.
    7. Serve hot with rice.
