Tondli (Kovakai) Bhaat

can try the same with baingan.It will not be like bisibela bath (rice mashed).It will be like pulav.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 1 Cup Basmati Rice
    • 1/2 cup Tondli(lenthwise)
    • 1 3/4 cup water
    • 1 onion,cut lengthwise
    • 2 green chilli,cut lengthwise
    • 1 inch cinnamon stick
    • 1/2 tsp Haldi
    • 1/2 tsp hing
    • 1/2 tsp Jeera
    • 1 tbsp goda masala
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tbsp oil

     

    Directions

    1. Wash rice,drain & keep aside for 10 minutes.
    2. Wash and cut tondli lengthwise into 2.Cut onions lengthwise.
    3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.crackle jeera,cinnamon stick,green chilli,hing & add onion.Lightly brown onion.
    4. Then add Tondli and saute for 2 minutes.Cook on medium flame.
    5. Add rice and saute for another minute and add water.
    6. When it starts boiling add Goda masala & salt.
    7. Stir well & close the lid.
    8. Pressure cook 2 whistles on medium flame only.
    9. When the steam settles down,rice is done & garnish with coriander leaves and cashewnuts roasted in a tsp of ghee.
    10. Tondli Bhaat is ready.
