Bisibelebath

south indian rice dish

I learnt this recipe from my grand mother. Believe me its too easy and real BBB !!!

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup Rice
    • 1 cup Tuvar Dal
    • 5 cups Water
    • Vegetables (Beans, Carrot, Peas, Potato)
    • 1 fistfull of Red Chillies
    • 1/2 cup Dry Copra (1/2 of whole)
    • 2 1/2 tbsp Dhaniya
    • 1 tbsp Urad Dal (optional)
    • Poppy Seeds (khaskhas)
    • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
    • Tamarind Juice (1 big lemon size)
    • Jaggery small lump
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Roast Red chillies, Dhaniya, Uraddal, khaskhas, and Cinnamon separately. Then Make it 95% coarse powder in a Mixer.
    2. Mix Rice and Tuvar dal, Wash. Add a pinch of turmeric and spoon of oil.Cook in a cooker till done.(Cook them little soft)
    3. In a separate Vessel, add mustard. After it splutters add all the diced Vegetables and cook till soft.
    4. Add the ground masala powder, salt, Tamarind Juice and Jaggery. Cook for some time.
    5. Then add the cooked Rice and Dal mixture. Mix thoroughly. Add more water depending on the consistency to make it a bit Viscous.
    6. Finally make a seasoning with Ghee, mustard, & curry leaves and pour on the Bisibelebath and enjoy it hot!!
