Muri Ghonto

Muri Ghonto is one of the very popular bengali dish cooked with fish head and rice

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 2-3 Fried head of Rohu fish
    • Fried Potatoes (diced)
    • 1 tsp Turmeric, Cumin powder, Red Chili powder
    • 1 garam masala powder and dhania powder
    • 2 tsp soaked uncooked rice
    • 2 onion (chopped)
    • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
    • Mustard Oil
    • Salt to taste




    1. Heat oil in a kadai
    2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
    3. Add onion and all the masala including the soaked rice and fry until  golden brown.
    4. Add fish head and break it little.
    5. Add water and fried potatoes and cover. Let it boil.
    6. Add Salt
    7. Let it simmer until rice is done. If there is too much water, reduce it so that the dish is thick
