Rava Dokhla

dhokla made with cream of wheat

An easy and very quick dhokla

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings

  • 2 cups Cream of Wheat
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • ¼ tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Yoghurt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds (black)
  • 5 leaves Curry Leaf
  • 2 nos. Green Chilies, cut in half
  • 1 tsp Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil

Directions

  1. In a bowl take 2 cups of rava and add 1 cup plain yogurt with some water, mix it well so that there are no clumps and should be of medium consistency.
  2. Then add all the other ingredients; baking soda, turmeric, red chili powder, salt and mix it. Let it stay for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Then steam it in a cooker or other container for about 8-10 minutes. After its done cut it into pieces.
  4. For the seasoning
    Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and then add the curry leaves and chillies.
  5. Add the dokhla pieces in the pan or pour the seasoning over the dokhla.
  6. Garnish it with chopped coraiander.

Please, add this to step # 1 In a bowl take 2 cups of rava, put 2 tea spoon oil in Rava and mix it well, add 1 cup plain yogurt with some water, mix it well so that there are no clumps and should be of medium consistency.

i tried preparing dhokla's as per the recipie but did not come out well,may be because i kept the batter for 2 to 3 hrs before steaming.
