Deep fried dumplings

A speciality of karnataka. very yummy indeed!!

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup sooji or semolina
    • 1 cup maida
    • 1 cup atta or wheat flour
    • 1 cup rice flour
    • salt to taste
    • 2 green chillies (finely chopped)
    • 1 tsp jeera
    • 2 onions (optional)
    • coriander leaves (finely chopped)
    • 1 tbsp butter
    • oil to fry

    Directions

    1. Take all flours and sooji in a big bowl.
    2. Add salt, chillis, finely chopped onions, jeera, coriander leaves and butter and make a hard dough using very little water.
    3. Take a small ball of dough and flatten into thin discs using finger tips on a plastic sheet.
    4. Heat oil in a kadhai and fry vadas in hot oil on medium heat till golden brown.
    5. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
