Steamed Rice Sweet Pancake

Very tasty...i learnt it from my friend.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 cup Rice
    • a pinch of Salt
    • Pure Ghee (Clarified butter)
    • Turmeric or Banana leaf 
    For stuffing:
    • 1 cup Freshly grated Coconut
    • 5-6 tblsp grated Jaggery
    • a pinch of Elaichi powder


    1. Soak Rice for 2 hours. Drain & grind to a thick fine paste using very little water. Add a pinch of Salt. Mix well.
    2. In a pan, lightly roast the grated Coconut for a minute. Add Jaggery & Elaichi powder, cook for 5 mins. Allow to cool.
    3. Apply Ghee on the shining side of the Turmeric or Banana leaves.
    4. Spread a little of the Rice batter & place a spoonful of the stuffing & fold the leaf sideways so that they dont tear open. You can also tie a thread around it.
    5. Steam the leaves for 10-12 mins just little idlis. When done remove the leaves carefully & dribble little ghee on top & serve hot.
