Jaanu Chicken

Spicy chicken with beer

Easy to cook with little sweat and effort.

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings

    8-10 fine chicken drumsticks 2 eggs 150ml curd 6 tablespoons of quality beer 4 green chillies 50gm ginger 50gm garlic 7-8 pieces of cloves 3 pieces of dalchini salt to taste 2 teaspoons of red pepper powder 3/4th teaspoon of tumeric powder 1 teaspoon garam masala powder, 2 tomatoes 3 teaspoon oil 1 medium size onion.


    1. Peel the skin off the chicken drumsticks and clean it in warm water well. Pour in the beer in a flat, deep dish and place the chicken drumsticks into it.
    2. while the chicken is soaking in the beer, beat the 2 eggs in a blender well, add the ginger and garlic content to it and mix it well.
    3. Add the green chillies, cloves, dalchini, curds, red pepper powder, salt to taste, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and blend it well in a mixer-grinder or a blender.This should be blended until the the mixture turns into a fine paste.
    4. Take the chicken drumsticks out of the beer and keep it aside,now pour in the beer into the paste you have made and mix it a while.
    5. Take a flat and deep set baking dish(12 by 9'deep)and pour in half the mixture into it.
    6. Now place the chicken drumsticks in the mixture one by one(facing opposite to each other).Then pour in the left over mixture on the chicken drumsticks.
    7. Leave this dish aside and let the chicken marinate in this mixture for 21/2-3 hours.
    8. Preheat the oven for 5 mins at 350 degrees F/180 degree C.
    9. Place the baking dish into the preheated oven,bake the chicken for 45 mins at the same temperature.
    10. After 20 mins of baking ,turn the chicken drumsticks in the oven carefully.After 40 mins set the oven at broil or turn on the upper-coil for 5-8 mins.
    11. Switch the oven off and take out the baking dish,turn the pieces of chicken slowly one-by-one.Beforehand make a puree of the two tomatoes and cut the the onion finely.
    12. Put a little oil in a pan and let it heat nicely,add the finely chopped onoins to it and saute it till it turns pink in colour, add the tomato puree, add some salt and red pepper powder to it too.Saute the mixture until it turns thick.
    13. Pour this mixture on top of the chicken tastefully(keeping in mind that each piece is covered with the sauted mixture.
    14. Set the chicken to broil for 5-8 mins.The dish is ready to be served.Serve it warm for the second time.



    Tried this recipe , it does have a rich flavor and was truly yummy!!
