Puffed Fried Bread

Yummy bhaturas. Enjoy it with Chhole.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • ¾ cup Yoghurt
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • Vegetable Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste


  1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt and sieve it to mix well.
  2. Mix yogurt and sugar. Add this to the flour, add enough lukewarm water and knead it into a soft dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside in warm place for fermentation. (about 3-4 hours)
  4. Divide it into 10-12 equal portions, roll them into balls. Cover and set aside for 5 minutes.
  5. Grease your palms with a little oil and flatten the balls. Roll into 5-6 inch diameter (like big puri).
  6. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry bhaturas on high flame.

serve hot with chhole.



for instant making Bhatura u can use ENO instead of baking powder or soda


The recipes ingriedients asks for baking soda and the method says baking powder. Which one is it? Soda or powder?


it you add 1 or 2 boiled mashedpotatoes and little Rava in this it will give good taste and will be crispy
